About Me

Hey, I’m Steph 👋

I’m the artist and slightly socially awkward human behind Socially Awkward Prints.

I’m 35, from the North West, and I’ve been drawing for pretty much as long as I’ve been able to hold a pencil. Art has always been my thing, and I’m also a massive perfectionist, so I will happily obsess over a tiny detail that probably nobody else will ever notice. 😂

Socially Awkward Prints originally started back in the chaos of lockdown in 2020. Back then, I mainly created prints inspired by films and song lyrics and sold them through Etsy. My Etsy shop unexpectedly closed, and after that I ended up taking a break from the business for a while.

When I decided to start again, I knew I wanted to do things differently.

This time, I wanted to create my own original artwork and build something that really felt like me. No lyrics, no relying on other people’s ideas, just artwork I’d genuinely want hanging on my own walls.

I love all things gothic and alternative, but I also have a serious weakness for bold colours, tattoo-inspired art and dopamine decor. Basically, if it’s a little dark, a little weird, ridiculously colourful, or some combination of all three, I’m probably into it. 🖤

I restarted Socially Awkward Prints for another reason too. I’m a mum, and one of my biggest goals is to build a business that gives me the flexibility to homeschool my daughter in the future. So behind every print, order and new design is me, working away from my kitchen and trying to build this little business into something bigger.

And the name?

Socially Awkward Prints is quite literally me.

I’m much happier sitting drawing for hours than I am making small talk. Social interaction isn’t exactly my favourite pastime, so when I needed a name for the business, Socially Awkward Prints felt pretty appropriate. 😂

Everything you see here has been created by me. I draw the artwork, obsess over the details, run the website, answer your messages and pack your orders.

I’m still a small business, but that’s part of what makes it special to me. Every order means there’s an actual person somewhere choosing something I drew to put on their wall, and I don’t think that will ever stop being a bit surreal.

So if you like your art bold, alternative, colourful, gothic, weird or just a little different from everything else out there, you’re in the right place.

Thanks for supporting my little corner of the internet. 🖤
